Friendship House
The Friendship House (also known as The Maples, Maple Square, or Duncanson House) located at 619 D Street, SE in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Designed by William Lovering in 1795, the Friendship House is an example of Georgian architecture and is the oldest privately owned residence extant on Capitol Hill. The first owner of the home was William Mayne Duncanson, whose house guests included George Washington. Additional past owners include Sentaor John Clayton and journalist Emily Edson Briggs. -from Wikipedia
