About Fuji Shibasakura Festival

The Fuji Shibasakura Festival, held near Lake Motosu at the base of Mount Fuji, is one of Japan’s most colorful spring events. Each year from mid-April to late May, over 800,000 moss phlox plants bloom, covering the fields in vivid shades of pink, purple, and white. Photographers can capture sweeping floral carpets with Japan’s most famous mountain rising majestically in the background, creating one of the country’s most photogenic seasonal landscapes. Elevated viewpoints and winding paths through the fields allow for varied compositions. The site is accessible by bus from Kawaguchiko Station, with early morning visits offering the best light and fewer crowds. (Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, Japan)
