Gaddings Dam is an 1833 earth embankment dam located with an amazing view on the top of the moors. It was originially constructed to supply water to the mills of Lumbutts, the reservoir fell into disuse when the mills began to use steam power. It was slated to be drained back in 2001, but it was saved by a determined group of locals who bought the dam themselves. There is no road access, only a steep hike on a rough footpath to the top of the moors. The nearest vehicle access point is the Shepherd's Rest Pub on Lumbutts Road. Parking is very limited, and there may be parking restrictions in place. (Lumbutts, England)
