About Gamle Bybro
Gamle Bybro, meaning Old City Bridge, is one of Trondheim's most iconic viewpoints, offering a classic Scandinavian scene of colourful wooden warehouses lining the Nidelva River. The bridge's distinctive red wooden portals frame the view perfectly, and the reflection of the Bryggen-style buildings on the calm water below is the shot most photographers come for. Position yourself on the bridge and shoot west toward the wharf buildings, or drop down to the riverbank for a lower angle that captures both the reflections and the bridge structure itself. Golden hour light in the morning or evening brings warm tones across the painted facades, and overcast days soften shadows for even exposure across the bright colours. A 24-35mm lens works well for capturing the full scene, and the area is very walkable with easy access year-round. (Trondheim, Trøndelag, Norway)
