The Golden Ears Bridge is a striking extradosed cable-stayed crossing over the Fraser River, offering strong geometric lines and a mountainous backdrop that makes it a rewarding subject for architectural and landscape photography. From the riverbanks on either side, you can frame the bridge cables and towers against the peaks of the Golden Ears mountain range to the north, especially effective with a telephoto lens that compresses the distance and stacks the layers. The south bank near Langley and the north shore near Pitt Meadows both give you different angles worth exploring. Golden hour light in the morning catches the cables and deck beautifully, while overcast days soften the contrast and let the mountains hold detail. A wide-to-mid zoom works well for environmental shots, while a 70-200mm helps isolate the tower structures. Watch for reflections on the river surface during calm conditions, particularly in the early morning before wind picks up. (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada)
