Gosaikunda Lake

Gosaikunda Lake is a peaceful high altitude lake sitting tucked at the base of rugged mountains. During March or April the amazing hike feaures views of the undulating hills painted red with at least 16 different species of rhododendron. The forests are home to rare wildlife such as red panda, musk deer and several species of birds amid its wild greenery. It’s a high altitude trek, that takes 2-3 days and first-timers are advised to take it slow. The holy Gosaikunda lake has unparalleled importance for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. According to Hindu mythology, Gosaikunda is the abode of Hindu god Shiva and goddess Parvati. (Langtang National Park, Nepal)
