Great Barford Bridge
Great Barford Bridge is a beautifully preserved 15th-century stone bridge spanning the River Great Ouse, its 17 arches reflecting in the water below to create strong symmetrical compositions. You can shoot from the riverbank on either side to capture the full length of the bridge, or get low near the water's edge to emphasize the arch reflections, which are especially clean on calm mornings. The adjacent Church of St Leonard adds a classic English countryside backdrop when you compose from the western bank. Golden hour light, particularly in the morning, skims across the stonework and brings out the warm tones of the limestone and sandstone. A wide to standard focal length works well for full-length shots, while a short telephoto lets you compress the arches into a tighter, more dramatic frame. Parking is available nearby and the riverbanks are easy to walk. (Great Barford, Bedfordshire, England)
