Groverake Mine
Groverake Mine was the leading producer of commercial fluorspar in Weardale during the 1980's and 1990's. The mine closed in the summer of 1999. Much of the site was demolished in 2005, though the two headframes and numerous outbuildings were left standing. There are many unique spots to explore and photograph around the abandoned grounds.
