The Harlingen Cold Storage building sits long abandoned and falling into disrepair alongN Commerce Street in Harlingen. It dates from the years when Rio Grande Valley produce went north by rail and got iced down before it left. The plant closed a long time ago and has been standing empty beside the tracks ever since. From the road it's a white painted wall running most of a block, with a rusted metal canopy over the whole length of the old loading dock. At the far end a taller concrete block still carries the company name in faded letters across the top. The building sits on private property and there are posted no trespassing signs, so you'll need to stay close to N Commerce Street while you are shooting. That's less of a restriction than it sounds, because the whole frontage can be seen clearly from the road. (Harlingen, Texas, USA)
