The opulent Hassan II Mosque sits photogenically on an outcrop jutting over the ocean with a soaring 210m-tall minaret. It is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's second tallest. It's a showcase of the finest Moroccan artisanship: hand-carved stone and wood, intricate marble flooring and inlay, gilded cedar ceilings and exquisite geometric mosaic tilework. It is open to non-Muslims; multilanguage guided tours are conducted outside prayer times for modestly clad visitors.
