The High Tide Organ is a striking 15-metre concrete and metal sculpture built into the sea wall, designed to be played by the tide itself through eight pipes. Photographically, it rewards patience and timing. The vertical structure works well with a wide angle lens to emphasize its height against the sky, or you can get close to the copper and zinc surfaces to capture the texture and weathering. Shoot at high tide for the drama of waves surging around the base, and if you can time it with overcast light or a moody sky, the industrial materiality really comes alive. Golden hour adds warm contrast against the grey structure and sea. The organ sits directly on the promenade, so access is simple, and shooting from a low angle near the base looking upward gives you a strong, graphic composition against the sky.
