Historic Scanlan House is an 1889 Queen Anne Victorian standing on Parkway Avenue South in Lanesboro, built by Michael Scanlan, credited locally as being the town's founder. It's currently a bed and breakfast, and has been for over thirty years. Gingerbread trim runs along the gables, and planted beds fill in around the house through the warmer months. Since it is privately owned you will have to stick to the public road and sidewalks. Shooting from a corner rather than straight on highlights all the intricate trim work. Overcast days help to keep the woodwork as an important feature, since hard sun puts the eaves into heavy shadow. Autumn is the season worth planning around, with the fall colours all around adding rich tones to your shots.(Lanesboro, Minnesota, USA)
