About Hoshizuna Beach
Hoshizuna Beach (Starsand Beach) is a beautiful beach with many rocky formations that makes for alot of unique shooting opportunities. As a bonus sometimes this beach is covered in what appears to be tiny star shaped sand. The tiny star-shaped grains are not really sand but exoskeletons of tiny protists. The best time to come looking for the star shaped "sand" is after a large storm. All the exoskeletons will have been loosened up from the seabed, and the massive waves caused by strong winds will have washed them ashore. (Taketomi, Japan)
