Humpback Rocks
Humpback Rocks is a peaceful rocky summit along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The viewpoint is reached by a short, but steep, hike that climbs through forest to an open, sloping rock face. From the top, photographers are rewarded with wide, unobstructed views across the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering layered ridge lines that fade into the distance. The exposed rock provides clean foreground interest and space for varied compositions, while shifting light and weather conditions add depth and atmosphere to the scene. Sunrise and sunset are especially compelling, with soft light enhancing the contours of the landscape. A small parking area at the trailhead makes access straightforward, though the hike requires moderate effort. (Virginia, USA)
