The HVB Tower rises straight off Munich's busy inner ring road in Arabellapark, a silver high-tech tower that is just begging to be photographed. Its floors hang suspended from a central frame between four towers, so the whole underside feels like exposed machinery. The reflective glass is fun to experiment with as tt shifts with the sky, going silver and cool under clouds, then catching gold or red glints with the sun. Standing in the plaza at the base lets you shoot straight up creating geometric lines that stack towards the sky. Long exposure is also fun to experiment with here as it stretches the moving clouds into soft streaks against the rigid metal. There is lots of space if you prefer to back up and capture the full tower rather than the abstract underside. Getting there is incredibly easy with the U4 subway stopping at Richard-Strauss-Straße right at its base. The surrounding streets and open space are free to shoot, so take your time and explore various angles. It is a working bank headquarters, so you will only be able to capture the exterior since the interior privately owned. (Munich, Bavaria, Germany)
