This tucked-away footbridge in the Adirondack foothills spans a dramatic gorge carved by the Ausable River, making it one of the more unexpected finds in upstate New York. The twisted wire cable suspension design from 1888 sways gently underfoot, and the gorge below offers compelling shots looking straight down into rushing water and mossy rock walls. Position yourself at either end to use the bridge deck as a leading line stretching into the trees, or find a spot along the riverbank below to frame the bridge against the sky. The two neighboring historic bridges nearby make it worth exploring the full area for a broader story about 19th-century engineering. Overcast days work beautifully here, softening shadows in the deep gorge and bringing out the green of the surrounding foliage. A wide angle lens handles the gorge depth well, and a telephoto lets you isolate bridge details and cables. The site is free and walkable from the village. (Keeseville, New York, United States)
