Kliese Housebarn
Housebarn in Emmet, Wisconsin, a few miles north of Watertown. Built ca. 1850 for Friedrich Kliese, an immigrant from Silesia, it is now owned by the Langholff family. Featuring a "schwarze Küche" ("black kitchen" or smokehouse), it is Wisconsin's only half-timbered structure built by German immigrants that accommodates both a barn and a residence under one roof. The barn is on private prooperty so you may have to ask permission in order to shoot it close up. There are vantage points from the public road.
