Klosterruine Heisterbach
Klosterruine Heisterbach (Heisterbach Abbey) is a former Cistercian complex founded in 1189. After its dissolution in 1803, the Abbey was sold as a quarry. In 1820, the Duke of Lippe-Biesterfeld purchased the remains of the former Abbey and set up an English garden. In 1919 Heisterbach returned to its function as a religious community and now sits as preserved ruins. (Königswinter, Germany)
