Kongresshalle
This massive, unfinished horseshoe-shaped structure is one of the most striking examples of Nazi-era monumental architecture in existence, and its sheer scale makes it endlessly compelling to photograph. The roofless interior courtyard offers a dramatic perspective looking upward, where the jagged, incomplete upper edge meets the open sky, a composition that works especially well with a wide-angle lens to emphasize the overwhelming proportions. The exterior facade rewards detail shots too, with its heavy rusticated stonework drawing clear comparisons to the Colosseum. Overcast days work beautifully here, softening harsh shadows across the rough stone surfaces and adding a somber mood that suits the history. Arrive early to avoid crowds and get clean compositions along the long curved facade. The building is partially accessible as it houses the Documentation Center museum, and the surrounding grounds give you room to pull back for full exterior shots.
