Lacs de Fenêtre
Lacs de Fenêtre, above Orsières near the Swiss-Italian border, is one of those spots that feels a bit more remote and peaceful compared to some of the busier alpine locations. The area is made up of a few small mountain lakes set among rocky terrain and gentle slopes, with surrounding peaks adding a nice sense of scale without overwhelming the scene. It is a great place to work on clean alpine compositions, especially when the water is calm enough to pick up reflections. The hike in gives you a steady build up with plenty of smaller details along the way, and once you reach the lakes, it opens up into a quiet basin that is easy to explore. Light in the early morning or later in the day tends to work best, giving softer tones across the rocks and water. It is a rewarding location if you are looking for a more low key alpine setting that still delivers strong photographic opportunities. (Orsières, Valais, Switzerland)
