Lago Bianco
Lago Bianco is a high elevation reservoir at the Bernina pass that was formed by the two dams Scala and Arlas on the site of two natural lakes. The views are beautiful during the summer months when the stark mountains contrast the lush countryside. During the winter the reservoir freezes to form a sheet of sparkling dark ice as smooth as glass dotted with massive ice bubbles. The reflections of the sky and the surrounding snow-covered mountains in the smooth surface radiate an almost unreal beauty. (Ospizio Bernina, Switzerland)
