Lago Chungará is a striking lake surrounded by volcanos that reflect beautifully in the lakes calm, clear waters. At 4570m above sea level, Lago Chungará is one of the world's highest lakes. The lake formed between 17,000 and 8,000 years ago when the volcano Parinacota collapsed and the debris from the collapse dammed the Lauca River. (Lauca National Park, Chile)
