About Lago di Santa Colomba
Lago di Santa Colomba is a small peaceful lake sitting surrounding by pine woods above Civezzano. The water often appears to be a rich green or near black depending on the light, and the trees come right down to the shoreline for much of the lake. On a still morning you can capture the whole treeline reflected back at you. It's best to aim to get here early, before any breeze appears over the surface. A flat path runs the whole way round, part gravel and part wooden boardwalk, so you can explore the banks and decide where the light is best to shoot from. Spring brings frogs and toads in large numbers, which can be a fun (and tricky) shooting subject on its own if you don't mind getting a bit wet and muddy. This area stays quiet on weekdays, so you're rarely sharing the bank with anyone but a couple of anglers. Trails head off in every direction from the parking lot, including one through the old silver diggings in the woods and another into the protected bog next door.
