Lergravsporten

Lergravsporten is a dramatic coastal site on Gotland featuring towering raukar, the distinctive limestone sea stacks carved by ancient wave erosion, rising from a wildflower meadow above a calm bay. The formations include natural arches and sculptural pillars that reward close-up detail shots as much as wide environmental portraits. Shooting in the golden hour before sunset gives you warm, directional light that carves deep shadows into the textured limestone surfaces, making the shapes read beautifully. Position yourself low among the wildflowers in summer to layer foreground color against the grey-white stacks, or work the natural arches by framing the bay and sky through them. A wide-angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range handles the scale well, though a standard zoom lets you isolate individual formations.
