About Lion's Den Hiking Trail
The Lion's Den Hiking Trail is a loop around the headland above of the town of Fogo. It's roughly 4km long over a mix of boardwalk, stairs and open rock. The route passes through four historic communities, with panels along the way explaining what stood where. Foundation holes and old cellars are still visible in the grass. One of the lookouts turns you back to highlight an amazing view looking out Fogo as it spreads along the shoreline below, with open water behind it. Short spur trails lead to scenic the lookouts and are worth taking some time to explore each one. they all lead to photogenic views. Along the way the loop opens to look out the Atlantic Ocean and the Little Fogo Islands sitting just offshore. Red foxes often turn up on the open hills through the day so keep as eye out for them. Parking and the information board are at the Marconi Wireless Interpretation Centre, up off Main Street. (Fogo, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada)
