Little Huson Cave Park is a remote geological gem on northern Vancouver Island, where ancient limestone formations, a natural rock bridge, and vivid green pools create a scene unlike anything else in the region. The viewing platform gives you a strong elevated perspective overlooking the rock bridge and the pools below, so bring a wide angle lens to capture the arch framing the water. A longer focal length works well for isolating the texture of the limestone walls and the layered rock platforms. Overcast days are ideal here since the forest canopy and canyon walls create harsh contrast in direct sun, and the diffused light brings out the deep emerald tones of the water. Arrive early to avoid any foot traffic on the platform. The access road from Highway 19 is gravel and can be rough, so a higher clearance vehicle is recommended, and signage along the route keeps navigation straightforward.
