Wrought iron kiosks line Llandudno Pier as it stretches out from the town toward the Irish Sea. Opened in 1878, it is the longest pier in Wales, and the ornate railings and painted kiosks along its length still carry on the Victorian seaside design. Shooting from the beach on the western side of the pier lets you frame the full length against the headland behind it. The beginning of the pier appears to bend as it flows along the shoreline, which can give you a perfect leading line. Little Orme sits to the east, a smaller mirror to the Great Orme, and it shows up well in shots taken from the far end of the pier looking back toward town. Morning light works nicely here, catching the iron detail and the pastel hotels along the promenade behind. Entry to the pier is free, and it stays open to walk its full length even outside the summer season. During summer and tourist season the pier does get quite crowded and noisy so its an amazing spot to experiment with street photography. If you are amazing for a more peaceful vibe to your shooting, early risers often get the whole structure to themselves. If you aim to explore the pier later in the day blue hour has beautiful light along with the pier's lights coming on. (Llandudno, Wales, United Kingdom)
