Lost Lake
Lost Lake is a quiet kettle lake tucked inside the Lost Lakes Preserve in the Poconos, offering glassy reflections, wooded shorelines, and a sense of unspoiled stillness that rewards patient photographers. The lake's relatively small size means you can frame tight compositions with the tree line mirrored in calm water, especially in the early morning before any wind picks up. Shoot from the shoreline at water level to maximize the reflection, or step back to include foreground vegetation like reeds or fallen branches for depth. Golden hour light filtering through the surrounding forest canopy adds warmth and texture to the scene. A wide angle lens works well for expansive shoreline shots, while a short telephoto helps compress the tree reflections. Wear waterproof footwear since the edges can be soft and wet, and visit in autumn for peak foliage color surrounding the water.
