From Wikipedia Maramec Spring is the fifth largest spring the state of Missouri with an average daily flow of of around a hundred million gallons of warer (~26 bathtubs every second). Rain that falls several miles from the spring seeps into the earth and becomes groundwater, which then comes to the surface and is released as a spring. Rainbow and brown trout can be found in the area.
