Marblehead Light is a striking skeletal iron lighthouse standing at the entrance to Marblehead Harbor, one of the most distinctive structures on the New England coast. The open lattice framework gives you strong graphic lines that reward a wide angle lens, especially when you shoot upward from the base to emphasize its height against the sky. The surrounding rocky shoreline and harbor views make it easy to build layered compositions, with lobster boats and sailboats often adding life to the background. Golden hour light, particularly in the morning, brings warm tones to the rusted iron framework and the reflective water below. The site is accessible via a short walk through Chandler Hovey Park on Marblehead Neck, and parking is available nearby. Low tide exposes more of the rocky foreground, which works well for adding texture and depth to wider compositions. (Marblehead, Massachusetts, United States)
