Built in 1906 the Marvelville Community Centre was once a one-room schoolhouse at this site. Once known as U.S.S. No. 5 Russell & No. 16 Osgoode - Marvelville School, the school ceased operation in 1965 and became a community centre. The school was built to serve the largely Scottish migrants that settled in the area and replaced an earlier log cabin-style schoolhouse. (Russell, Ontario, Canada)
