Masjid Raya Al Jabbar

Masjid Raya Al Jabbar is the grand mosque of West Java province, built in the center of a peaceful lake. The mosque sits surrounded by ater sits so when the water level is high it looks like the building is floating. The best frames come from the park across the water, where the mosque and its reflection appear beautifully when the lake is still. Late afternoon into blue hour is the ideal window to aim for, especially as the mosque's lights come on after dark. Inside, the main hall was built without central columns, so wide shots stay clean. This is a working mosque so visitors must behave in a way that disturbs people praying, so make sure to be as quiet and unobtrusive as possible while shooting. The entrances are separated by gender.
