Tucked away in a quiet field the Meare Fish House is a charming little hidden gem and one of the more unusual old buildings in the area. It is a small medieval stone house, built by Glastonbury Abbey back in the 1330s for the man who ran its fishery, and it is the last building of its kind left in England. Since it stands all on its own in the flat open fields, so you can frame the textured old stone against big Somerset skies with nothing else in the way. Is whole area often has misty mornings, so if you are lucky you can add a bit of low fog or soft early light here to deepen the atmosphere and maybe even add a haunted/moody tone. Golden hour warms the stone nicely too, and the arched doorway and old windows are worth a few closer frames. The outside is open to wander and free to photograph any time, plus if you want to see inside you can collect the key from the nearby farm. Parking is tight with only room for just a car or so at the field entrance so you may have to park along one of the surrounding streets. Dogs are not allowed in the field since there is often livestock wandering around in the nearby fields. (Meare, Somerset, England)
