The Merced National Wildlife Refuge is an amazing spot for birdwatching and just viewing the local wildlife. There is an auto route through the refuge, and a lot of scenic natural trails (all pedestrian trails are marked, so please respect the refuge and don't leave any of the trails or routes if not otherwise posted).
