The Moeraki Boulders are an amazing grouping of unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach between Moeraki and Hampden. Because of their uniqueness they have been protected in a scientific reserve - so please be sure to leave this beautiful location exactly as you found it for others to enjoy. Since the mudstone is constantly being eroded away by the waves new boulders are sslowly appearing every year. The boulders are quite striking with their unexpectedly large size and spherical shape ranging from 1 to 7 ft in size. (Hampden, New Zealand)
