Molecule Man

Molecule Man - Photo by William Warby1 / 1

Molecule Man in Berlin is a set of towering aluminum sculptures standing directly in the Spree River, and it is one of those subjects that really works from multiple angles depending on how you approach it. The three figures are full of cut-out patterns, which let light pass through and create interesting shapes that change throughout the day. You can shoot it from the riverbanks, nearby bridges, or slightly elevated viewpoints to play with symmetry and reflections in the water. It is especially strong at sunset when the light lines up behind the sculpture and shines through the perforations, giving you a really graphic, almost silhouette style result. The surrounding urban and industrial setting also gives you the option to include context or keep things clean and minimal depending on your time of day. (Berlin, Germany)
