Moore Road View
Tucked into the Marin Headlands just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, this narrow pullout gives you one of the most complete panoramas of San Francisco Bay you can find, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the foreground, the city skyline behind it, Alcatraz sitting in the middle of the water, and the Bay Bridge stretching across the background. The layered composition practically builds itself, but positioning yourself to align the bridge towers with the skyline behind them adds real depth. A telephoto lens in the 70-200mm range lets you compress those layers effectively, while a wide angle works well if you want to capture the full sweep of the scene. Sunrise brings soft, directional light that catches the bridge cables beautifully, and foggy mornings add atmosphere that makes the scene feel iconic. Parking is limited along the road, so arrive early and watch your footing near the edges. (Sausalito, California, United States)
