Mount Mihara (Miharayama in Japanese) is an active volcano. It has a 300 meters wide and 200 meters deep crater which constantly changes shape due to the volcanic eruptions and high winds that blow across the summit (we recommend not wearing a hat while shooting here!). Mount Mihara's major eruption in 1986 saw lava fountains up to 1.6 kilometres (1.0 mi) high. (Oshima, Japan)
