Neue Regensburger Hütte
Perched at 2,286 meters in the Stubai Alps, this classic red-roofed alpine hut makes a compelling subject against a backdrop of jagged peaks and, on clear days, glacier views to the south. Position yourself below and slightly in front of the hut to capture it against the mountain ridgeline, or move further back to include the surrounding meadows and rocky terrain as foreground interest. A wide angle lens works well for grand landscape shots, while a short telephoto helps compress the hut against distant peaks. Early morning is the best time to shoot, when alpenglow can catch the peaks behind the hut and the light is soft before midday haze builds. The hut is reached by a multi-hour trail from Neustift im Stubaital, so plan to arrive the evening before and stay overnight to catch the best light without rushing.
