Notre Dame du Travail is a late 19th century Catholic church in the 14th arrondissement whose interior surprises with an exposed iron and steel framework, more reminiscent of a Gustave Eiffel structure than a traditional place of worship. The industrial skeleton of riveted metal arches runs the full length of the nave, creating strong repeating lines that draw the eye toward the altar. Shoot from the back of the nave with a wide angle lens, around 16 to 24mm, to capture the full length of the ceiling structure and use the pews as a natural leading line. A slightly elevated position from the entrance steps gives you a clean, symmetrical frame. Midday light filtering through the upper windows softens the industrial feel without losing the drama of the metalwork. The church is free to enter and generally quiet on weekday mornings, giving you time to work without crowds. (Paris, Île-de-France, France)
