The old Chester Courthouse was built in 1724 in Chester, to serve as the courthouse for Chester County. Chester County was one of the first three counties in the Province of Pennsylvania set up by William Penn. The court room was the oldest active court in use in the United States until 1967. Every year, one trial was held in the court room.
