About Old Little Miami RR Trestle

Old Little Miami RR Trestle is a great hidden gem tucked away along the Little Miami Scenic Trail in the farmland between Xenia and Yellow Springs in southwest Ohio. This former rail bridge has been converted into a trail bridge and now sits rusted to a deep red brown. The rail line originally ran from Cincinnati to Springfield and closed in the 1960s. Shooting straight down the trail gives you the perfect leading lines. The intricate truss structure closes in overhead which makes a centred and symmetrical frame easy. Trees crowd both banks, so the light comes through in patches, an overcast day will even that out. Early morning puts low light straight along the length of the deck, giving your composition a peaceful vibe. The rust pops nicely as it creates contrast against the rich greens of spring and summer, and autumn changes the whole palette. Cyclists come through steadily if you want a someone to highlight the scale of the bridge. Parking is available wither at Yellow Springs Station or at Old Town Reserve Park to the south.
