Olympia-Einkaufszentrum is a U-Bahn station out in Moosach, in the north end of Munich, and it's one of the most photogenic stations on the whole network. The walls are covered from floor to ceiling in thousands of small stainless steel pyramids with each one angled in a different way. This creates the illusion of the wall moving as you walk past it. From farther away it looks like endless tiny bright triangles instead of flat walls. Overhead the ceiling is deep blue with long yellow light panels running down the centre of it. That blue and yellow contrast beautifully against all the silver everywhere else. If you are able to set up dead centre you can experiment with symmetrical compositions looking straight down the hall with the escalators sitting at the far end. You can also get right up against the walls at a shallow angle to highlight the pyramids and create more abstract frames with the patterns. With some patience you should be able to pair a slow shutter with a train coming through. Ideally try to go early or late in the day for the best chances at an empty-ish platform. This station sits along the U1, U3 and U7 lines, which makes it easy to build into a day of station hopping. Georg-Brauchle-Ring and Westfriedhof are both on the same line and both worth the stop.
