Built in 1538, this Renaissance palace is one of Salamanca's hidden gems, best known for its stunning interior courtyard where Plateresque stone carving meets Italian influence in a way that rewards close attention. The courtyard is the real prize: look up to find grotesque corbels, delicate capitals, and layered arches stacking vertically, which makes a wide-angle lens between 16mm and 24mm ideal for capturing the full height while keeping the details readable. Shooting from the center of the courtyard floor lets you compose symmetrical arches as a frame, while moving to the corners gives you diagonal depth across the columns. Midday light filtering through the open roof creates even, diffused illumination that works well for the stone textures, avoiding the harsh shadows that often trouble courtyard architecture. Admission is free and the space is rarely crowded, so you will usually have room to shoot without interference from other visitors. (Salamanca, Castile and León, Spain)
