Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval is an incredible "Palace" of stones constructed by a postman over more than 3 decades, inscribed with his poetry. Ferdinand Fernando Cheval began building in 1879 and continued for 33 more years. e spent the first twenty years building the outer walls. He collected the stones during his postal route. The Palais is a mix of different styles with inspirations from Christianity to Hinduism. Cheval bound the stones together with lime, mortar and cement.(Hauterives, France)
