Palais Longchamp
Palais Longchamp in Marseille is a really rewarding spot if you like combining architecture with a bit of landscape. The centerpiece is the large fountain and colonnade, with water cascading down in tiers and framed by curved stone structures that give you strong leading lines and symmetry to work with. You can shoot it head on for that classic balanced composition or move off to the sides to play with depth and framing through the arches. Behind the palace, the gardens open up into quieter areas with paths, trees, and smaller details that are great for slower, more relaxed shooting. It is an easy place to spend time experimenting with different angles, especially as the light shifts across the stone and water. Early morning or later in the day tends to give you softer light and fewer people in frame. (Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France)
