Built in 1910, this slender metal-framed lighthouse stands at the southernmost point of Latvia's Baltic coastline, combining industrial heritage with a wild, undeveloped shoreline that stretches for miles in both directions. The structure itself rewards close-up detail shots with a wide angle lens to capture the latticed ironwork against the sky, but pulling back to include the surrounding dunes and pine trees gives a strong sense of place. Sunset is the prime time to visit, with warm light hitting the metalwork from the west and the Baltic glowing behind it; staying into blue hour and full dark opens up excellent long-exposure and astrophotography opportunities on clear nights, as light pollution here is minimal. Access is via a quiet rural road, and the beach is easy to walk, giving you flexibility to position the lighthouse against open sky or use the shoreline as a leading line into the frame. (Pape, Rucava Parish, Latvia)
