Park Ave View

This stretch of Park Avenue offers one of Midtown Manhattan's most iconic urban compositions, where the avenue's broad boulevard converges toward the Helmsley Building and MetLife Building stacked dramatically in the background, with rows of skyscrapers flanking both sides as natural leading lines. Position yourself in the median or on the sidewalk facing north, using a moderate wide-angle to standard zoom lens, around 24-50mm, to compress the perspective and draw the towers together. Early morning on weekdays gives you the best of both worlds: golden hour light warming the buildings and relatively light traffic for cleaner shots without too many vehicles cluttering the foreground. Weekend mornings are even quieter if you want near-empty lanes. Stay alert to moving traffic at all times and use the painted median islands when available for a centered, symmetrical composition.
