Pastoruri Glacier sits at around 5,200 meters in the Cordillera Blanca, one of the last accessible tropical glaciers in South America and a striking subject for landscape photography. The blue-white ice face reflects light beautifully in the morning, when the sun is low and casts directional shadows that bring out texture in the glacier's surface. Wide angles work well here to capture the full scale of the ice against the surrounding peaks, while a longer focal length lets you compress the rocky foreground against the glacier wall for a more dramatic composition. The turquoise meltwater lagoon at the base adds strong color contrast and works as a natural foreground element. The trail is well-marked and accessible for most fitness levels, though the altitude hits hard, so take it slowly and acclimatize in Huaraz beforehand. Arrive early to beat afternoon clouds that tend to roll in and flatten the light. (Tuco, Ancash, Peru)
