About Petrified Wood Building
The old gas station made of petrified wood is located along N Main Street in Lamar. Hoping to sidetrack tourists traveling along US 287 on their way through Lamar to the Rocky Mountains, lumber dealer W.G. Brown built the one-of-a-kind structure in 1932. The building is now home to a used car lot.
